Pictures of Jesus With Children
In various Gospels, Jesus speaks of children or puts them in their examples. A child is a weak and humble being who has no ambition, knows no envy, has no privilege, has nothing to say in the eagerness of adults, the child is aware of its smallness and weakness . Not only Jesus wants to show his great love for our children, in the Gospels it is also shown that the simplicity of heart, and the humility of spirit are prerequisites to reach the Kingdom of Heaven.
In one occasion Jesus told us: “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me” – Luke 9: 46-50
It happened that the disciples of Jesus came up wondering who would be the greatest. But Jesus, knowing the thoughts of their hearts, had a little child stand beside Him. And He said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in My name welcomes Me, and whoever welcomes Me welcomes the One who sent Me. For whoever is the least among all of you, he is the greatest.” “Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not accompany us.” “Do not stop him,” Jesus replied, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”
The child has a sincere soul and an immaculate heart, and remains in the simplicity of his thoughts, he does not seek honors, or knows the privileges, is not afraid to be not considered, nor he handles things with great interest. This child is loved and embraced by the Lord; He deigns to have them close to him because they imitate him. Thus says the Lord (Mt 11,29): “Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart.”
Two clear teaching, Jesus left us here, one teaches that those who want to be bigger should receive the poor of Christ for their honor, and another exhorts us to be little children in malice.
“And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. “Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” – Mark 10:13-16
